Spire Washington Hospital are looking for an experienced Anaesthetics & Recovery Practitioner to join their theatre team on a permanent basis. The role will provide excellent care and require the post holder to participate and contribute to providing services within the Theatre Unit. Spire Washington is a 35 in-patient bedded hospital with 10 consultation and 2 treatment rooms based just off junction 63 of the A1 with great commuter links. Our Hospital offers a range of services and facilities including four operating theatres covering specialities including Orthopaedics and Gynaecology and a full Diagnostic suite.

Duties and responsibilities:

  • Working as part of this friendly and supportive team you can expect to assist patients undergoing a variety of elective procedures including ENT, neurological, orthopaedic, laparoscopic, ophthalmic, gynaecology and urology.
  • Act as anaesthetic assistant.
  • Prepare the operating theatre/anaesthetic room for surgery in relation to instrumentation, equipment and supplies required for specific operative procedures, ensuring waste is kept to a minimum.
  • Administering local anaesthetics.
  • Assess patient’s health and well-being across a complex and changing caseload.
  • Develop care plans that are appropriate to the patient, taking into consideration the care pathway, perioperative risks and their wellbeing.
  • Assist in the delivery of care to meet the patient’s needs in an extremely busy department.
  • Prepping the recovery bays and looking after patients after their surgery.
  • Provide and receive complex, sensitive or contentious information.
  • Promoting best practice and contributing towards quality improvements.

Who we're looking for:

  • An interest in development and progression is encouraged and reinforced, offering the opportunity to complete the surgical first assist course and specialise within the surgical areas on offer.
  • Registered Nurse with an anaesthetic qualification.
  • Operating Department Practitioner with anaesthetic experience.
  • Experience of working in teams and with minimum supervision.
  • ODP qualification.
  • HCPC or NMC registration.
  • At least 2 years scrub experience.

Working Hours: 37.5 hours per week

Contract Type: Permanent
