Spire Dunedin in Reading are seeking an experienced Specialist Chemotherapy Nurse to join our dynamic and proficient oncology team.
As the Chemotherapy Clinical Nurse Specialist, you will serve as the clinical expert and professional resource for the multi-professional team, patients, and caregivers.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Management of direct patient care and to be responsible for a clinical caseload and safely administer SACT.
- Work closely with other site-specific Clinical Nurse Specialists and work as part of a team.
- Work collaboratively with other professionals and agencies both within and out of the hospital setting to ensure patient needs are met, especially in relation to ongoing care needs and discharge arrangements.
- Provide professional support to colleagues working within the cancer unit setting.
- Offer patients a Holistic Needs Assessment at relevant points in their pathway and provide a care plan, if identified referral to Level 3 or Level 4 psychological care providers.
- Provide specialist advice which is evidence-based to deliver clinically effective care to cancer patients and their families in collaboration with the multidisciplinary team.
- Promote a culture of respectful relationships and patient involvement in care decisions.
- Evaluate and assess patients and their family's needs and treat, support and refer as appropriate.
- Demonstrate advanced knowledge and understanding in the administration of chemotherapy and associated toxicities, including intravenous access, management of central venous access, venepuncture and management of extravasation.
- Participate in hospital forums and committees.
- Continuously develop and consolidate training programs in alignment with personal development plans.
Who weβre looking for:
- Registered General Nurse with valid NMC registration with no restrictions or conditions.
- Extensive knowledge and experience of working at a senior level within cancer services and the administration of SACT.
- Hold an accredited SACT administration course.
- Competency in the UKONS 24 Hour triage Tool.
- Post registration course within cancer care.
- Excellent communication, organisational & IT skills, with the ability to organise work around competing demands on time.
- Ability to work with minimal supervision.
Working Hours: Full Time 37.5hrs per week
Contract Type: Permanent, Full time
