Spire Nottingham Hospital is seeking an experienced Director of Clinical Services to join our Executive Leadership Team on a permanent, full-time basis. Reporting to the Hospital Director, this senior leadership role is responsible for the strategic leadership, performance and development of clinical services across the hospital. Working closely with the Executive Team, consultants and clinical colleagues, you will help deliver the hospital's clinical strategy while ensuring the highest standards of patient safety, quality and governance.

Spire Nottingham is a well-established private hospital providing a broad range of clinical and diagnostic services. The hospital has a strong reputation for clinical excellence and is currently the only private hospital in Nottinghamshire rated Outstanding by the CQC.

We are seeking a credible and influential clinical leader who combines strong governance and operational expertise with commercial awareness. You'll be comfortable working at Executive and Consultant level, leading through change and driving service improvement in a dynamic healthcare environment. About the Role

  • Provide strategic clinical leadership, fostering a culture focused on patient safety, quality and outstanding outcomes.
  • Partner with the Hospital Director, Executive Team and consultant body to deliver the hospital's clinical strategy and Annual Operating Plan.
  • Lead the development and continuous improvement of clinical services, identifying opportunities for innovation and growth.
  • Ensure excellence in clinical governance, regulatory compliance, infection prevention and information governance, acting as both Director of Infection Prevention and Control (DIPC) and Caldicott Guardian.
  • Lead workforce planning, performance, engagement and professional development across clinical teams.
  • Drive transformational change while balancing clinical priorities with operational performance and financial sustainability.
  • Build strong relationships with consultants and key stakeholders, influencing at both executive and senior clinical level.
  • Deputise for the Hospital Director when required.

About You

We’re looking for an influential senior clinical leader who combines clinical credibility with strategic and operational expertise. You will be able to demonstrate:

  • Current registration with an appropriate UK healthcare professional regulator such as the NMC, HCPC or GMC.
  • Significant senior-level clinical leadership and management experience.
  • A proven track record of delivering safe, high-quality, patient-centred services.
  • Experience leading service development, transformation and organisational change.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills, with the credibility to work effectively with consultants, senior clinicians and executive colleagues.
  • Commercial awareness and an understanding of the relationship between clinical quality, operational performance and sustainability.
  • A strategic mindset, with the ability to translate vision into action and develop high-performing teams.
  • Degree-level qualification (desirable).
