Spire Alexandra Hospital is seeking a caring and motivated Theatre Assistant to join our friendly operating theatre team on a flexible bank basis. In this role, you'll work closely with Nurses, Operating Department Practitioners and Consultants to support the delivery of safe, high-quality patient care throughout the surgical pathway. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with healthcare support experience who is passionate about patient care and enjoys working in a fast-paced theatre environment.
At Spire Alexandra Hospital, we provide outstanding care to patients across Medway, Kent and the South East. Our modern facilities include two fully equipped operating theatres and an extended recovery unit supported by 24-hour care.
Key Responsibilities- Support clinical teams during surgical procedures
- Assist Scrub Nurses within the operating theatre environment
- Help care for patients in the anaesthetic room
- Safely transfer patients between wards and theatre departments
- Prepare equipment and open sterile packs for procedures
- Check and handle surgical instruments prior to surgery
- Support stock management and ordering of theatre supplies
- Maintain high standards of cleanliness and infection prevention
- Contribute to a safe, efficient and patient-focused theatre service
- Previous Healthcare Assistant experience, ideally within a theatre setting (desirable)
- NVQ Level 2 in Health & Social Care, Care Certificate or equivalent
- A caring, compassionate and professional approach
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
