As Medical Devices Lead at Spire Cardiff Hospital, you’ll take full ownership of medical equipment management across the hospital—ensuring every device is safe, compliant, and ready when it matters most.
Your leadership will directly support clinical teams to deliver outstanding patient care, while maintaining the highest standards of safety and governance.
Duties and Responsibilities:- You will be accountable for delivering medical device management in line with Clinical Policy 53, acting as the hospital’s subject matter expert and providing assurance across all areas of compliance.
- Own and lead the management of medical equipment, including servicing, maintenance, and repair coordination.
- Ensure all devices are accurately recorded, asset tagged (including RFID where required), and maintained within asset management systems (Nuvolo/Pirana).
- Oversee asset lifecycle processes, including onboarding, tracking, servicing, and decommissioning.
- Lead on governance of loan equipment, consultant-owned devices, and service contracts.
- Provide training and guidance to clinical teams on fault reporting, device tracking, and compliance requirements.
- Conduct departmental checks to ensure adherence to asset tracking and quarantine protocols.
- Prepare and contribute to Medical Device Safety Meetings and support audit readiness.
- Work closely with procurement and clinical teams to ensure new equipment meets all requirements prior to use.
- Experience in medical device management, clinical engineering, or a similar healthcare environment.
- Strong knowledge of compliance, audit, and asset management processes.
- Excellent organisational and communication skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel (SAP knowledge desirable).
- A proactive, self-motivated individual who takes ownership and drives high standards.
Working Hours: 10 hours per week, preferable worked across 1 day.
