Spire Southampton Hospital have an exciting opportunity for a Registered Nurse to join the Oncology Department on a bank/flexible working basis. Spire Southampton Hospital offers world-class care, attracting patients from across the South of England and internationally.
Duties and responsibilities:
- Working within a highly supportive team you will provide care to patients with all types of conditions in Oncology.
- You will be provided with full mandatory training in this and will treat your own caseload of patients and make your own decisions as part of a wider team.
- You will also work alongside the consultants at the hospital providing exemplary care.
- To provide exemplary planned care for patients and assist in the management and organisation of care provision in Oncology Day Chemotherapy Centre.
- Care of cancer patients receiving Systemic Anti-Cancer Therapy (SACT).
- Assess patients’ health and wellbeing across a complex and changing caseload of cancer patients.
- Assist in the delivery of care to meet individuals’ health and wellbeing needs throughout the cancer treatment pathway.
- Provide and receive complex, sensitive or contentious information related to cancer patient care.
Who we're looking for:
- NMC registered - your pin should not have any restrictions or conditions.
- Have a minimum of 1-2 years’ experience working in an Oncology/Haematology setting.
- Competent in venepuncture, phlebotomy and cannulation and the use of CVADs.
- Evidence of SACT competency.
- UK Oncology Nurse Society (UKONS) SACT passport (preferred but not essential).
- Post registration study in cancer care or equivalent (desirable but not essential).
- Compassionate and patient advocate.
- Excellent communication skills, organised and can showcase excellent patient care.
