Spire Alexandra Hospital is seeking a Bank Pharmacy Assistant for a bank contract to support our Pharmacy Department during busy periods, cover annual leave, sickness, and peak times. The role is ad-hoc on an “as and when required” basis.

Main duties

  • Assist the pharmacy team in providing an exemplary pharmacy service to the hospital and its patients, working within your level of competence.
  • Contribute to the safe and effective use of medicines.
  • Undertake routine delegated activities accurately and in line with current legislation, professional standards and Spire Healthcare policies and procedures.
  • Prepare yourself, equipment, materials and medicines appropriately for specific tasks.
  • Accurately dispense medicines according to prescriptions, ensuring all items are checked by a pharmacist.
  • Prepare small batches of prepacked and/or overlabelled medicines as required, ensuring pharmacist verification.
  • Accurately record data and information relating to activities and ensure this is passed to the appropriate team member or filed correctly.
  • Identify and report any significant changes within the pharmacy department or service that may impact patient health and wellbeing.

Qualifications

  • Previous experience within a pharmacy department (hospital or community).
  • Strong teamworking skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Highly numerate and literate.
  • Administrative experience involving checking and monitoring processes.
  • Ability to handle sensitive and challenging situations in a professional and supportive manner.
