Spire Parkway Hospital has an exciting bank opportunity for a Clinical Oncology Pharmacist. This role is ideally suited to someone who is looking for the challenge of delivering a comprehensive pharmacy service within hospital settings.

Spire Parkway Hospital in Solihull, West Midlands offers a comprehensive range of private hospital services. Our hospital is rated Good by the CQC for all parts of the inspection except for Patient Care, which is rated Outstanding. The report states, Staff treated patients with compassion and kindness, respected their privacy and dignity, took account of their individual needs, and helped them understand their conditions. They provided emotional support to patients, families and carers.

Our dedicated hospital team are passionate about excellent patient care and we offer a range of specialist treatments to patients across Birmingham, Warwickshire and the West Midlands. This includes diagnostic services, rehabilitation, cutting-edge surgical procedures and excellence in specialist fields like orthopaedics, women's health and cancer care. We have 51 bedrooms and five operating theatres.

Main duties of the job:

  • Working as part of a close-knit specialist oncology and haematology team who ensure a highly personalised service to our patients.
  • Liaising with specialist nursing staff to ensure appropriate patient workload daily.
  • Utilising planning skills to ensure all chemotherapy medications are ordered and received ready for treatment.
  • Pre-assessing patients, reviewing test results and assessing their safety to proceed to treatment.
  • Reviewing and releasing medications at discharge.
  • Follow up calls with patients to review side effects and ensure they have all the support they need.

Who we're looking for:

  • Current GPhC registration with a minimum of 1 year post qualifying practice in Hospital settings.
  • Experience within Oncology Pharmacy is essential.
  • Current dispensing and screening experience.
  • Oncology experience with BOPA SACT verification passport, at least 2 years post registration experience in Oncology desired.
  • Excellent communicator as you will interact with patients across various departments to find out their pharmaceutical requirements.
