Spire Norwich Hospital is seeking a skilled and motivated Multi-Skilled Engineer with an electrical background to join our Engineering team.
This is an excellent opportunity for a qualified electrician who enjoys variety and is looking to develop their career within a modern healthcare environment. Working as part of our on-site engineering team, you will support the safe operation of the hospital by maintaining critical building services, ensuring regulatory compliance and assisting with a broad range of planned and reactive maintenance activities.
The role offers the opportunity to develop specialist skills within healthcare engineering and undertake further training across a variety of technical disciplines.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive maintenance across hospital facilities and equipment.
- Maintain electrical systems and associated plant and equipment.
- Support maintenance and statutory testing of ventilation and air conditioning systems.
- Undertake compliance activities including:
- Fire alarm testing
- Emergency lighting testing
- Water sampling and monitoring
- Tap temperature and maintenance checks
- SSD (Sterile Services Department) equipment testing
- Diagnose and rectify faults across a range of building services systems.
- Support contractors and specialist service providers working within the hospital.
- Ensure all maintenance records and compliance documentation are completed accurately.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of engineering services across the hospital.
- Participate in the hospital's on-call arrangements where required.
- Work towards Authorised Person (AP) responsibilities following appropriate training and competency assessment.
Who We're Looking For
You will be a qualified electrician with strong technical knowledge and a flexible, hands-on approach to maintenance.
Essential:
- Recognised electrical qualification (City & Guilds, NVQ Level 3 or equivalent).
- Experience working within a maintenance or building services environment.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
- Strong fault-finding and problem-solving skills.
- Commitment to health and safety and compliance standards.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
Desirable:
- Experience within healthcare, commercial or critical facilities environments.
- Multi-skilled maintenance experience across electrical and mechanical systems.
- Knowledge of HVAC, building management systems and statutory compliance requirements.
- Previous experience working within regulated environments.
- Interest in developing towards Authorised Person responsibilities.
