Spire Yale Hospital in Wrexham is currently seeking an experienced Health and Safety Manager to join their team on a permanent, full-time basis. This is an excellent opportunity for a knowledgeable and proactive health and safety professional to play a key role in maintaining a safe, compliant and well-regulated hospital environment. Spire Yale Hospital is one of North Wales’ leading private hospitals and we take pride in delivering high-quality care.

Contract type: Permanent

Working hours: Monday to Friday 9 am to 5 pm

As Health and Safety Manager, you will be responsible for supporting and driving health and safety standards across the hospital, ensuring policies, procedures and legal requirements are effectively implemented and followed. Working closely with both clinical and non-clinical teams, you will support the operational management of health, safety and risk, as well as all related systems and initiatives across the hospital. This role is key to ensuring the consistent provision of high-quality, safe care and services at all times.

Duties and Responsibilities (not limited to):

  • Ensure that working practices are established for colleagues and contractors working at the facility are in accordance with Control of Substances Hazardous to Health Regulations 2002.
  • Provide support for the operational management of health, safety and all related systems and initiatives for the site with the aim of ensuring the provision of high quality and safe care and services at all times.
  • Assist the Hospital Director/Facility Manager to coordinate the implementation and delivery of the Spire Healthcare Health & Safety Strategies at the facility.
  • Oversee the monitoring and completion of Health and Safety Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), ensuring targets are met and progress is reported at the Health and Safety Committee meetings.
  • Advise the Senior Management Teams and the Health and Safety Committee on general Health and Safety matters on a quarterly basis, seeking further information from the appropriate Group specialists, as necessary.
  • Implement and have oversight of the Health & Safety Management Systems (Departmental and Master) ensuring compliance with Spire and H&S regulatory requirements.

What do you need to have?

  • IOSH Managing Safely / IOSH Working Safely course
  • NEBOSH National General Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety
  • Previous experience working in the healthcare industry or a similar customer orientated organisation
  • Track record of successful people and process management, ideally in a multi-functional environment
  • Understanding of Health & Safety and risk issues and legislation in a healthcare organisation
  • Competent user of the MS Office suite of products in order to meet the requirements of the role
  • Ability to understand and manage effectively the impact of competing pressures and conflicting priorities
  • Ability to challenge constructively in a solution orientated way
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Good interpersonal and team working skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Outlook, Word and Excel
