Spire Cheshire Hospital, Warrington is currently looking to recruit for an experienced Engineering and Estates Manager on a full time and permanent basis. Contract type: Permanent, Full time

Working hours: Department operates between 7 am and 5 pm Monday to Friday, however due to the nature of the position, some flexibility will be required as business demands - occasional evening, or weekend working and a regular on-call commitment.

As Engineering Manager, you will be responsible to maintain grounds, building fabric, building services and all equipment in a cost-effective manner, ensuring compliance with all current National legislation and Spire policies. Please be aware that this position involves a 50% focus on managerial responsibilities and 50% on hands-on duties.

Duties and Responsibilities (not limited to):

  • To plan, develop and implement a comprehensive, cost effective, planned and preventative maintenance / repair programme for all engineering services / equipment, utilising the PPM system.
  • To commission, record and schedule all new equipment and services for planned maintenance.
  • Ensure continual update of hospital asset register to keep all plant and equipment visible to the site and the network.
  • Ensure an appropriate asset management procedure is in place for all engineering plant and equipment.
  • Work with other departmental managers to ensure an appropriate asset management is in place for all hospital equipment.
  • To provide leadership, planning and supervision to department consisting of Engineers, Engineering Administrators and Porters.
  • To ensure cost effective management and review of local service agreements with external contractors, for specialist services and ensure these local contracts remain visible to the network.
  • To establish, monitor and develop local policies and procedures in conjunction with current Spire Policy, HTM and Code of Practices.
  • Contribute to a well led culture that demonstrates a commitment to patient care, high clinical quality, and continuous learning in an open and transparent manner.

What do you need to have?

  • Served a recognised apprenticeship in Electrical/Mechanical Engineering or has proven extensive healthcare engineering experience.
  • High level of engineering knowledge and skills based on education, training and extensive experience.
  • Extensive knowledge of building services.
  • 5 years’ experience in building services management.
  • Negotiate service levels and local contracts with suppliers.
  • Support Hospital compliance with changing legislation.
  • Planning and Organising.
  • Act to positively impact groups of colleagues, patients and their families that interact with the department and contractors.
