Spire Global is seeking a commercially focused, technically fluent Director to lead business development and sales activities for Space Services and support Sales activities of its Aviation, Weather & Climate, and Space Reconnaissance data products (excluding Germany and US), while also shaping and delivering Spire’s commercial strategy and solutions engineering for Space Services globally.
This role combines external customer engagement with internal strategic leadership. You’ll serve as a key customer interface—building relationships, securing contracts, and representing Spire in key markets—while leading a team focused on commercial strategy, technical solution development, and deal execution.
What You’ll Do:Business Development & Sales (Rest of World – Government, Military, Intelligence)
- Report directly to the COO, driving Spire’s business development efforts outside Germany and US with commercial, government, military, and intelligence clients across Europe, the Middle East, and Asia-Pacific.
- Identify, develop, and close complex deals with new and existing customers in collaboration with Spire’s Business Units.
- Lead responses to RFPs and RFIs, participating in contract bids.
- Maintain intelligence on market trends, procurement processes, key stakeholders, and the competitive landscape.
- Represent Spire at major events to strengthen networks and identify new opportunities.
- Help shape Spire’s long-term strategy for serving commercial, government, and defense sectors in priority regions.
Commercial Strategy & Solutions Engineering (Global – Space Services)
- Lead the global team responsible for solution development and technical scoping of Space Services deals.
- Own and evolve Spire’s commercial strategy—developing pricing, value propositions, and contract negotiation strategies.
- Oversee deal governance, including financial reviews, approvals, and commercial processes.
- Drive development of technical proposals and engineering estimates aligned with customer needs and Spire’s capabilities.
- Translate customer feedback into actionable input for product strategy and technology roadmaps.
- Act as a bridge between market demand and Spire’s internal product and engineering teams.
Who You Are:
- A commercial and technical leader with 10+ years of experience in space, aerospace, defense, or related sectors.
- Proven track record in business development or sales with government, military, or intelligence stakeholders (ideally across Europe, Middle East, Asia-Pacific).
- Demonstrated success in managing complex, high-value deals from scoping through to closure.
- Strong understanding of technical solution design—ideally with experience in mission or systems engineering.
- Strategic mindset with the ability to shape commercial strategies, lead negotiations, and build internal deal governance.
- Strong communicator capable of simplifying complexity and influencing stakeholders at all levels.
- Confident operating in dynamic, ambiguous environments and leading cross-functional teams.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business, or a related field
- 10+ years of experience across business development, commercial strategy, and technical delivery
- Government/defense business development experience outside of Germany (e.g., UK, Eastern Europe, MENA, APAC)
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Team leadership experience
Spire operates a hybrid work model, requiring a minimum of three days per week in the office.
