We are looking for a Supplier Development Engineer to join our UK Supply Operations team in Cheltenham.
This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in driving quality improvements across our supplier base, ensuring high standards of supplier performance and supporting continuous improvement initiatives throughout the business.
You will work closely with internal stakeholders and suppliers to enhance quality systems, reduce non-conformance, and support sourcing and supplier development activities.
Key Responsibilities
- Support supplier selection activities to ensure suppliers meet business and quality requirements.
- Conduct supplier quality audits in line with company and industry standards.
- Work with suppliers to implement robust quality planning and control processes.
- Lead cross-functional feasibility reviews and purchased part validation activities.
- Analyse supplier performance data and identify opportunities for quality improvement.
- Manage supplier corrective actions and drive effective resolution of non-conformances.
- Promote continuous improvement through structured problem-solving methodologies.
- Deliver supplier training and support the implementation of quality best practices.
- Provide technical quality support to purchasing teams and other stakeholders.
- Contribute to business process improvement initiatives and uphold company EHS standards and values.
- Your Skills
- Experience in a Quality Engineering or Supplier Quality role within a manufacturing environment.
- Strong understanding of ISO 9001 and quality management systems.
- Experience in supplier quality management, quality planning, and corrective action processes.
- Skilled in quality auditing, root cause analysis, and continuous improvement techniques such as Six Sigma, Kaizen, 5 Whys, and FMEA.
- Ability to manage projects, facilitate meetings, and build strong relationships with suppliers and stakeholders.
- Confident interpreting engineering drawings and quality inspection requirements.
- Relevant engineering or quality qualification, or equivalent practical experience.
- A proactive, collaborative approach with excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
- Experience within valves, castings, forgings, or related engineering sectors.
- Knowledge of ISO 14001, ISO 45001, or Pressure Equipment Directive (PED) requirements.
- Chartered Quality Professional status (CQI) or similar qualification.
