The Role
We are looking for a Process Engineer – Automated Welding to develop, optimise and maintain semi‑automated and automated welding processes within a high‑quality manufacturing environment. You will play a key role in ensuring robust, capable welding processes that meet quality, safety and regulatory standards, while supporting production and new product introduction (NPI).
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, validate and optimise automated and semi‑automated welding processes
- Define and control critical welding parameters to ensure repeatable, high‑quality welds
- Create and maintain Weld Procedure Specifications (WPS), PQRs and work instructions
- Ensure compliance with relevant standards (ISO 15614, ISO 3834, ASME and customer requirements)
- Provide technical support to resolve weld quality issues and lead root cause analysis
- Support specification, commissioning and validation of automated welding equipment
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives using Lean / Six Sigma principles
- Work cross‑functionally with Engineering, Quality, Production, Supply Chain and Maintenance
- Provide training and technical guidance to operators and technicians
Your Experience
- Proven experience working with automated or robotic welding systems (orbital welding desirable)
- Strong understanding of welding principles and metallurgy
- Experience supporting production and NPI in a manufacturing environment
- Knowledge of weld inspection methods and quality systems
- Experience working with engineering drawings, weld symbols and specifications
