Job Summary:
We are looking for a talented and motivated Team Leader (Machine Shop CNC) to join our dynamic team.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead, motivate, and encourage team members according to relevant standards and quality requirements.
- Provide leadership and supervision; support staff development through training, mentoring, and regular meetings and appraisals.
- Maintain high-quality standards and ensure timely manufacturing to meet customer delivery schedules.

- First Aid Certified.
- Report near misses and support safety improvements.
- Collaborate with the Department Leader on EHS issues.
- Ensure compliance with EH&S regulations.
- Engage personnel in environmental, safety, health, and ergonomic initiatives.
- Lead our safety culture as part of the management team.
- Conduct daily safety checks and weekly safety audits.
- Track EH&S metrics and communicate updates monthly.
- Distribute safety bulletins and daily safety checklists.
- Operate machine tools safely and efficiently.
Customer Focus
- Understand and anticipate customer needs.
- Coordinate with internal customers and ensure quality output aligns with schedules.
- Address quality issues, process problems, and machine breakdowns promptly.
- Support 6S activities in the workshop.
Excellence
- Develop staff capabilities and support new product introductions.
- Support GEM and EHS initiatives.
- Create and follow SOPs for business continuity.
- Monitor scrap levels and implement KPI improvements.
- Conduct shift meetings and review downtime sheets.
- Implement corrective actions for non-conformance.
- Adjust production plans as needed.
- Manage labor and overtime effectively.
- Provide training and mentorship to operators and apprentices.
- Manage attendance, conduct return-to-work meetings, and address performance issues.
Collaboration
- Foster an inclusive environment within the team.
- Maintain positive relationships with colleagues, suppliers, and customers.
- Ensure quality controls are followed; support root cause analysis.
- Coordinate with maintenance and facilities teams.
- Ensure proper shift handovers and participate in meetings and recruitment.
- Review and implement team suggestions for improvements.

Skills/Experience:
- Lean manufacturing experience, ideally Yellow Belt or higher.
- Experience in NEBOSH, COSHH, or IOSH environments.
- Knowledge of 5S or 6S processes.
- Ability to investigate non-conformance and perform root cause analysis.
- Experience in leading and managing teams.
- Resilient and able to work under pressure.
- Effective communication skills across diverse groups.
- Motivated with a solutions-focused approach.
- Apprentice training, City & Guilds, NVQ Level 4, or equivalent.
- ILM or NVQ 4 in management or similar experience.
- IOSH Managing Safely certification.
- Proficiency in Excel and Word.
