As a Configuration Management Engineer, you will play a critical role in ensuring the integrity and traceability of product configurations and specifications throughout the product lifecycle. You will work closely with teams across engineering, manufacturing, project management and business development to manage technical product data, control engineering changes, and maintain accurate documentation within Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) systems. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced, collaborative environment and is passionate about driving process improvements and maintaining high standards of data accuracy and compliance.
Key accountabilities
- Lead and progress engineering change management activities, ensuring timely and accurate change implementation.
- Maintain and facilitate regular change control reviews, reports and communications.
- Maintain product configuration models and specifications to ensure traceability of product versions and documentation.
- Collaborate with design engineers to ensure technical specifications, CAD models and drawings are correctly version controlled and stored.
- Uphold and apply a detailed understanding of configuration management principles to support configuration management related enquiries from multiple functions across the business.
- Ensure compliance with internal standards and external regulations related to configuration management, document control and product compliance.
- Contribute to continuous improvement of global processes and tools to reinforce and enhance configuration management and change management activities.
Skills / Experience
- Engineering or technical qualification (HND / Degree or equivalent).
- Proven experience in configuration management or engineering change control within a manufacturing or engineering environment.
- Strong understanding and expertise with PLM and CAD software tools (e.g., SolidWorks, Windchill).
- A rigorous approach to detail and robust organisational skills.
- Ability to contextualise and scrutinise complex problems to agree and implement effective solutions.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work across departments and with a broad range of stakeholders.
