Job Summary:
Connected Product – IoT Engineer, is an exciting new position as part of a developing IoT & Data Management team in support of the Spirax Group Digital Strategy. Operating across multiple business functions and cross functional teams, to develop and deliver ‘connected product’ solutions in combination with Product Owners, New Product Innovation (R&D) teams & Spirax Group Digital/IT.
The IoT Engineer provides technical leadership with responsibility to design, develop & deliver new connected products throughout the WMFTS portfolio. Working as part of the IoT & Data management team & as a key member of New Product Innovation (NPI) development teams, the IoT Engineer holds responsibility for the ‘connected product’, IoT, aspect of developments. Both leading and supporting teams on integration of IoT/connectivity into product platforms and as retrofit solutions.
As part of the IoT & Data Management team, you will be responsible for the design and implementation of data collection, both hardware and software, at the sensor level and ingestion into an azure data pipeline. To enable this, you’ll be able to demonstrate your ability to transition from design to implementation with a practical ability to assemble and configure edge devices, such as single board computers and sensor aggregation devices, during the development phases. In close collaboration with our wider engineering community you’ll also need the ability to specify and document these designs and processes into a production environment. To support these activities the Cardrew Innovation Centre is equipped with collaboration spaces, development and test facilities.
To work within the Azure data pipeline, experience in the azure data platform, or similar, is desirable. The edge data collection infrastructure and data manipulation currently heavily uses Python, so a working knowledge of this is also desirable.
As part of an agile team you will be expected to prioritise features and functionality accordingly through achievable agile development cycles to meet delivery objectives.
You will ensure the appropriate use & deployment of the Connect IoT platform on WMFTS products in support of the services offering, product & customers requirements.
Whilst a hybrid role, close collaboration with other WMFTS teams will require regular attendance to the Cardrew Innovation Centre, this location is the hub for WMFTS R&D & Digital development teams and WMFTS Digital Leadership. The role offers the opportunity to travel as projects require, to other Spirax Group locations, Customers and development partners, so the successful candidate must have a full driving license and current passport to be able to travel internationally.
