We are seeking a talented and motivated Assembly Team Leader to join our dynamic team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead, encourage and motivate team members in accordance with relevant specifications, procedures and quality standards related to their roles.
  • Provide leadership and supervision for team members; support staff development through training, mentoring and regular one-to-one meetings and appraisals to achieve high performance and compliance to standards.
  • Ensure high quality standards are reinforced and maintained; manufacture product to meet customer delivery dates in a timely manner.
  • Implement safety practices: first aid certified, report near misses, support EHS improvements, conduct daily health and safety checks, weekly safety audits, track metrics, issue safety bulletins, and ensure safe operation of machine tools.
  • Maintain customer focus: anticipate customer needs, coordinate with internal customers, monitor output against production schedule, address quality issues, process problems, labour shortages and machine breakdowns quickly, support 6S activities.
  • Drive excellence: build cross-skill staff, support GEM and EHS improvements, define and produce SOPs, monitor scrap levels, conduct shift start-up and close meetings, review downtime sheets, implement counter-measures, manage production plans, review labour and overtime, undertake improvement planning, address discipline and performance issues, conduct regular 1-2-1 meetings, support induction, ensure documentation, develop skills, analyse downtime and root causes.
  • Facilitate collaboration: include all team members, maintain positive relationships with suppliers and customers, support quality control, engage with maintenance and facilities, ensure shift handover, attend operations meetings, participate in recruitment and idea review.
  • Promote respect and integrity: treat everyone with respect and dignity, seek to understand diversity, show trust, empower others, challenge respectfully, listen, act fairly.

Skills / Experience

  • Lean manufacturing experience, ideally yellow belt or above.
  • Experience within a NEBOSH, COSHH or IOSH environment.
  • Experience of 5S or 6S processes.
  • Ability to investigate non-conformance and assist in root cause analysis.
  • Experience leading and managing people.
  • Resilient and able to work in a high-pressure environment.
  • Effective communication across diverse groups.
  • Highly motivated with a focus on solutions.
  • Minimum of apprentice training City Guilds, NVQ Level 4 or time served, or equivalent discipline.
  • ILM or NVQ 4 in managing people, or equivalent experience.
  • IOSH – Managing Safely certification.
  • IT skills – Excel and Word.
