Sitting on the Strategic Business Development Leadership Team, you will support a critical and complex function within our business. Acting as a trusted partner to managers and senior leaders, you will proactively identify and address people-related challenges, enhance organisational capabilities and design, and contribute to a culture of engagement, inclusion, and high performance. You will play a pivotal role in delivering expert HR support, advice, and interventions to your designated stakeholder groups across the Strategic Business Development Function. You will also be part of the Watson Marlow HR Leadership Team, collaborating with HR colleagues across the business to shape and deliver on our HR priorities.

In collaboration with the Global HR Director and wider HR Leadership Team, you will support organisational priorities, including talent management, leadership development, and change initiatives. This is a dynamic role requiring strong business acumen, excellent interpersonal skills, and the ability to collaborate and adapt to evolving organisational needs.

This role will focus on:

  • Strategic Leadership: Contribute to discussions about functional strategy and performance, playing an active role in aligning the business and people strategy.
  • HR Partnership: Demonstrate strong HR leadership by initiating and navigating critical conversations and decisions that drive future success.
  • HR Expertise: Provide proactive HR advice and guidance to your leadership team as well as managers across the function.
  • Change and Transformation: Act as a change agent by driving continuous improvement and supporting organisational transformation.
  • Policy and Compliance: Provide guidance on HR policies, employment law, and best practices to ensure compliance.
  • HR Projects and Initiatives: Contribute to HR improvement projects and initiatives, ensuring delivery aligns with business goals.
  • Talent and Succession Planning: Support the identification, development, and retention of talent through structured succession planning.
  • Data-Driven Decision Making: Analyse workforce and organisational data to identify trends and provide actionable insights.
  • Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion: Promote and implement initiatives that foster an inclusive workplace culture.
  • Employee Engagement and Wellbeing: Partner with stakeholders to design and implement programmes that drive engagement.

To be successful in this role, you will need:

Essential

  • Experience of coaching and guiding managers.
  • Experience of interpreting HR policies and procedures.
  • Experience of advising and supporting managers on employee relations matters.
  • Champion equity and inclusion with previous experience of promoting inclusive practices.
  • Experience of dealing with matters confidentially and sensitively.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office programmes.
  • Strong analytical and interpretive skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Problem-solving attitude in a fast-paced environment.

Desirable

  • Knowledge of employment legislation.
  • Being part of a leadership team.
  • Hands-on experience using HRIS or similar software systems.
  • HR qualifications, for example, CIPD level 5 (or equivalent experience).
  • Business Administration or similar field.
  • Working knowledge of people change management processes.
  • Project management qualification or relevant experience.
