Overview
In this role you will develop, validate and optimise automated and semi-automated welding processes within a high‑quality manufacturing environment. You will maintain robust welding procedures, support NPI, and drive quality and safety compliance. You’ll collaborate across Engineering, Quality and Production to implement continuous improvements. This is a hands‑on position with a focus on precision, reliability and cross‑functional impact in a global steam systems business.

Responsibilities
- Develop, validate and optimise automated and semi-automated welding processes
- Define and control critical welding parameters for repeatable, high-quality welds
- Create and maintain WPS, PQRs and work instructions
- Ensure compliance with ISO 15614, ISO 3834, ASME and customer requirements
- Provide technical support to resolve weld quality issues and lead root cause analysis
- Support specification, commissioning and validation of automated welding equipment
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives using Lean / Six Sigma principles
- Work cross‑functionally with Engineering, Quality, Production, Supply Chain and Maintenance
- Provide training and technical guidance to operators and technicians
Key requirements
- Proven experience with automated or robotic welding systems (orbital welding desirable)
- Strong understanding of welding principles and metallurgy
- Experience supporting production and NPI in manufacturing
- Knowledge of weld inspection methods and quality systems
- Experience with engineering drawings, weld symbols and specifications
- Structured problem-solving approach
- High attention to detail with a focus on quality
- Effective communicator with cross‑team influence
