Financial Accountant (10 month FTC)
We are seeking a qualified and commercially minded Financial Accountant to join our Central Finance team.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced accounting professional to take ownership of statutory reporting, financial compliance, budgeting, forecasting, and business partnering activities across multiple entities.
Working closely with senior stakeholders, including the General Manager of Gestra UK Limited, you will play a key role in delivering accurate financial reporting, supporting strategic decision-making, and driving continuous improvement across finance processes.
About the Role
As Financial Accountant, you will be responsible for managing statutory reporting requirements for Gestra UK Limited while supporting wider financial reporting and tax activities across UK and Irish operations.
You will also act as a trusted business partner, helping to shape financial strategies that support business growth and operational performance.
Key Responsibilities
- Financial Reporting & Compliance
- Manage statutory reporting processes for Gestra UK Limited.
- Prepare and review annual statutory accounts and liaise with external accounting advisers.
- Ensure compliance with financial controls and governance requirements.
- Support balance sheet improvement initiatives and financial reporting projects.
- Tax & VAT
- Prepare quarterly VAT returns for Gestra UK Limited and the Irish branch.
- Support corporation tax filings and year-end tax provisions.
- Manage tax forecasts, payments on account and transfer pricing requirements.
- Maintain and monitor the Group tax risk register.
- Planning & Analysis
- Prepare monthly management accounts and weekly/monthly flash reporting.
- Lead annual planning, budgeting and quarterly forecasting processes.
- Deliver financial analysis and insights to support business decisions.
- Ensure accurate intercompany reporting in line with Group policies.
- Business Partnering
- Work closely with operational and senior leadership teams.
- Provide financial guidance to support strategic objectives and maximise business performance.
- Identify opportunities for process improvements and increased efficiencies.
About You
We're looking for someone who combines strong technical accounting expertise with excellent commercial awareness and stakeholder management skills.
Essential Skills & Experience
- Qualified accountant (ACCA, ACA or CIMA).
- Post-qualified experience within a commercial finance environment.
- Strong understanding of statutory reporting and financial accounting.
- Experience preparing financial statements under FRS 102 and/or IFRS.
- Advanced Excel skills with the ability to analyse and interpret complex financial data.
- Strong budgeting, forecasting and financial analysis experience.
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
- Proactive approach with a focus on continuous improvement.
Desirable
- Experience in a technical accounting or financial reporting role.
- Exposure to tax compliance, VAT and transfer pricing requirements.
- Experience working across multiple legal entities or international operations.
