About the Service

Field View is a small, recovery-focused crisis house providing short-term accommodation and support for adults experiencing mental health difficulties. With 4 crisis beds and 2 step-down beds, the service offers a safe, welcoming alternative to hospital admission and supports people transitioning back into the community.

Every day, you'll play a vital role in creating a therapeutic environment where people feel heard, supported and empowered to take positive steps forward.

How You Will Make a Difference

As a Mental Health Support Worker, you'll work closely with individuals to help them build confidence, develop practical life skills and achieve their recovery goals. You'll provide both emotional and practical support during times of crisis while promoting choice, control and independence.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Acting as a Key Worker for allocated service users.
  • Developing therapeutic relationships built on trust, respect and professional boundaries.
  • Supporting people to develop independent living skills and manage daily living tasks.
  • Completing assessments, support plans and risk management activities.
  • Working collaboratively with mental health professionals and community partners.
  • Maintaining accurate records and contributing to service quality and improvement.
  • Working confidently and safely during lone-working shifts.

Who We're Looking For

Essential Criteria

To be successful, you'll be able to demonstrate:

  • Experience supporting people with mental ill health, or experience providing care/support within a social care environment (paid or voluntary).
  • Understanding of recovery-focused practice and person-centred support.
  • Experience of assessing needs, managing risk and developing support plans.
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
  • Ability to work independently and make sound decisions when lone working.
  • Commitment to equality, dignity, inclusion and safeguarding.
  • Confidence using basic IT systems and maintaining accurate records.

Desirable

  • QCF Diploma/NVQ Level 3 in Care, Certificate in Community Mental Healthcare, or an equivalent relevant qualification.
  • Experience working within mental health, crisis, housing or supported living services.
