Spinwell is recruiting for a Conservation Officer for an excellent opportunity within the public sector.
- RESPONIBILITIES OF THE CONSERVATION OFFICER
- Assess and provide recommendations on listed building consent applications, planning applications and related heritage consultations.
- Provide specialist conservation advice on proposals affecting listed buildings, conservation areas, registered parks and gardens and other designated and non-designated heritage assets.
- Respond to pre-application enquiries and provide advice to applicants, agents and colleagues.
- Undertake site visits as required.
- Prepare written consultation responses, reports and recommendations.
- Assist with conservation area matters, heritage projects and policy work where required.
- Support the monitoring and resolution of Buildings at Risk cases.
- Liaise with Historic England, local amenity societies, town and parish councils, applicants and other stakeholders.
- Attend meetings and represent the Historic Environment Team as required.
SKILLS/EXPERIENCE OF THE CONSERVATION OFFICER
- Degree or postgraduate qualification in Building Conservation, Historic Environment, Planning, Architecture or a related discipline.
- Demonstrable experience working as a Conservation Officer or in a similar historic environment role.
• Good knowledge of
- Planning (Listed Buildings and Conservation Areas) Act 1990;
- National Planning Policy Framework (NPPF);
- Historic England guidance and conservation best practice.
- Experience of assessing proposals affecting heritage assets and preparing written recommendations.
- Excellent report-writing and communication skills.
- Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle
