Spinwell is recruiting for a Senior Ecologist for an excellent opportunity within the public sector.
RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE SENIOR ECOLOGIST
- Survey ecosystems and assess the diversity, profusion and behaviour of the different organisms within them.
- Conducting field surveys to collect biological information about the numbers and distribution of organisms.
- Carrying out taxonomy, classification of organisms, applying sampling strategies and employing a range of habitat survey techniques.
- Aerial photography, maps carrying, environmental impact assessment, analysing and interpreting data, using specialist software programs.
- Working on habitat management and creation, writing reports and issuing recommendations.
- Liaising with and advising, site managers, engineers, planners and others associated with a survey building relationships with stakeholders.
- Keeping up to date with new environmental policies and legislation, contributing ideas about changes based on ecological findings.
SKILLS/EXPERIENCE OF THE SENIOR ECOLOGIST
- Experienced and confident
- Comfortable working across senior management and front line staff – need someone who can deliver and able to hit the ground running.
- Being able to influence and collaborate across different disciplines and adapt to that.
