Spinwell is recruiting for a Project Manager for an excellent opportunity within the public sector.
RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE PROJECT MANAGER
- Preparing documents and leading on the development of project proposals, ensuring that clear objectives and project scope are agreed at the outset
- Responsible for the completion and maintenance of Project Initiation Documents for a variety of large scale or highly complex projects
- Responsible for developing project plans in line with project management principles and methodology
- Monitoring and reporting progress against milestones, determining RAG status based on analysis of a range of information; assessing options to unblock issues, clarifying discrepancies and escalating complex issues as appropriate
- Responsible for identifying and managing project risks, issues, decisions and actions; maintaining and updating the RAID log, ensuring key information is captured in highlight reports
- Responsible for post project evaluations, identifying lessons learned and reporting on final outcomes/delivery of project objectives
- Developing and implementing qualitative and quantitative measures to determine and evaluate the benefits.
Reporting progress through personal representation, delivering presentations and by written reports to appropriate boards, internal and external stakeholders and groups of staff.
- Completing all documents and reports as specified in the project framework and in line with agreed reporting schedules
- Planning and co-ordinating the activity of project team members, stakeholders and contributors, ensuring that tasks and work packages are completed satisfactorily and on schedule
- Facilitating collaborative working to achieve project objectives, utilising project resource effectively; capacity planning in line with priority projects and workstreams
- To lead project board meetings, persuading and negotiating with stakeholders to motivate delivery of the project; assessing progress and addressing issues to ensure project standards are maintained and to achieve agreed objectives
- Facilitate project working groups and workshops with internal and external parties; encouraging discussion to identify stakeholder actions and ownership
- Analysing and interpreting complex information to determine if any change in action required; reviewing options, assessing risk and identifying appropriate action
- Delivering performance improvement and service re-design through the delivery of improvement projects; proposing change, leading on change and implementing new ways of working across the Trust
- Analysing performance, capacity and demand data to identify areas for improvement, assessing priority schemes and project proposals; working with programme managers todetermine areas for collaborative working and in relation to capacity planning
- To lead on service development and support Service Leads in managing change for defined project areas across the Trust; recognising resistance to change and developing strategies to overcome this and support staff in working differently
- Utilising a range of IT applications to regularly create reports and plans, maintaining systems to manage and monitor project information; use of graphics to display statistical information or present highly complex narrative
- Manage project resource to deliver on financial initiatives, cost improvement plans, etc with delegated responsibility for managing project budgets, identifying under/overspend and taking appropriate action
- Perform benefits analysis and baseline current system performance, prior to each project, ensuring there is a benefits realisation plan in place for handover to the Operations Lead responsible, as part of the Service Transition process
- Ensure the correct legacy ownership of processes and systems post implementation to ensure full embedding with operational and corporate structure with maximised use
- Represent client to contractors, suppliers and providers in furtherance of project objectives
- Provide a customer-focused service, managing customer/staff expectations by keeping customers informed of progress
- Design and delivery of training programmes to implement new ways of working, systems and processes for clinical and non-clinical staff at all levels, to include end user training following implementation of new technology or systems.
- Responsibility for mentoring and coaching less experienced colleagues to support and encourage their learning in both project management methodology and its application, ensuring progress is recorded and monitored as part of their continuous professional development.
- To support the delivery of the internal training programmes where relevant to skills and experience.
- Responsible for identifying efficiencies and proactively managing the delivery of financial savings aligned to defined cost improvement projects
SKILLS/EXPERIENCE OF THE PROJECT MANAGER
- Degree or equivalent experience
- Post graduate qualification
- APM Project Management Qualification (PMQ) or equivalent level of Project Management qualification or equivalent level of knowledge and experience
- Experience of managing complex or sensitive projects
- Practical application of project management methodologies
- Experience of working in a large complex organisation such as the NHS, social care sector or similar provider
- Experience of planning, developing and implementing changes to services, systems or processes
- Practical application of change management methodologies
- Experience of delivering significant change projects
- Experience in developing and delivery training
- Understanding of principles, methods, techniques and tools for effective project management
- Knowledge of change management and service or workforce redesign
- Ability to develop effective relationships with key stakeholders
- Knowledge of the NHS local health and care economy
- Knowledge and understanding of data protection and Information Governance principles
- Able to analyse, interpret and compare a range of options in order to solve complex problems
- Excellent presentation and communications skills with both verbal and written abilities
- Ability to convey complex concepts clearly in easily understood terms to a range of different individuals
- Ability to present to and facilitate groups of staff and other stakeholders
- Proven ability to keep information confidential and provide/ receive sensitive information in a responsible manner
- Effectively communicates in formal report writing to provide clarity and purpose
- Ability to create and manage complex surveys in relation to own projects
