Role: Subsidy Officer

Contract Length: Until 14/09/26

Location: Hybrid/Northampton – part remote

IR35: Inside

Pay Rate to Intermediary: £32 per hour

Spinwell is recruiting for a Subsidy Officer for an excellent opportunity within the public sector.

RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE SUBSIDY OFFICER

  • To ensure that benefit claims are being assessed accurately and paid correctly and in line with legislation and guidance.
  • To assist in the completion of the Housing Benefit subsidy returns and claims including working with auditors.
  • To ensure that the subsidy position improves and income to the Council is maximised.
  • To support the Training and Resilience team by identifying development needs of officers through Subsidy checking.

SKILLS/EXPERIENCE OF THE SUBSIDY OFFICER

  • Educated to GCSE level including Maths and English.
  • Experience of working in a Revenues & Benefits environment.
  • Demonstrate the ability to take on board and understand complex legislation.
  • Experience of using ICT.
  • ICT skills including PC, Microsoft office.
  • Communicating and Influencing – Strong communication and negotiation skills and ability to communicate with all customers, partners, ability to make difficult decisions showing tact and diplomacy.
  • Analytical Thinking - Shows the ability to gather information in order to understand issues.
  • Ability to self-motivate and work to high standards of accuracy, to achieve targets and deadlines.
  • Strong organisational and time management skills.
