Manchester (Hybrid) | Up to £80,000 + bonus + equity | Permanent
This is not a role for someone who wants to sit behind a ticket queue and wait to be told what to build next. We are working with a fast-growing technology consultancy based in central Manchester. They are building a team of engineers who are as comfortable talking to clients as they are writing code — people who are genuinely curious, actively embracing AI in their workflow, and motivated by working on things that matter. You do not need 10 years of experience. You need to be good, driven, and genuinely interested in where software engineering is going.
What you will be doing:
- Building and shipping production-grade software across a variety of client projects
- Working directly with clients — understanding their problems, not just receiving requirements
- Writing clean, tested, and reviewable code — including reviewing AI-generated output
- Taking ownership of sprint deliverables and flagging risks early
- Growing your skills — 10% of your time is protected for learning
What matters most:
- Solid full stack engineering experience — you have shipped real things
- You are already using AI co-pilots or actively want to — this is not optional going forward
- Curious — you read about technology because you find it interesting
- Client-comfortable — talking to non-technical people does not stress you out
- Self-starting — you do not wait to be told what to do next
- Resilient — you have done difficult things and you are fine with things being imperfect
Useful background (not essential):
- Non-traditional route into engineering — bootcamp, self-taught, career change
- Background in a non-tech industry before moving into engineering
- Games development or games programming
- Interest in public sector, defence, or national security technology
What is on offer:
- Up to £80,000 base salary depending on experience
- Performance bonus, equity, and private healthcare
- 5% employer pension contribution
- £4,000 annual training budget with 10% protected learning time
- 25 days holiday plus bank holidays
- Flexible working with core hours of 10am to 4pm
- Hybrid — Manchester city centre
The team is small, trusted, and growing fast. If you are a few years into your career and you are already thinking about the next version of what engineering looks like — this is a conversation worth having. Apply through this listing or contact Spinwell directly. Applications are reviewed in small batches — no volume, no churn.
