Role: Professional Events Lead

Contract Length: 6 months

Location: Hybrid/London or Manchester - 2 days per week in office

IR35: Inside

Pay Rate to Intermediary: £500-£600 per day

Security Clearance: BPSS and SC eligible

Spinwell is recruiting for a Professional Events Lead for an excellent opportunity within the public sector.

RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE PROFESSIONAL EVENTS LEAD

  • Own end-to-end delivery of the annual Government Cyber Profession conference, from concept and business case through to delivery on the day and closedown, acting as the single point of accountability for the event.
  • Design the conference programme, setting the agenda, themes and format, commissioning and briefing speakers and chairs, and securing senior Civil Service and industry participation.
  • Manage the budget, procurement and suppliers, including venue, AV, catering and production, ensuring value for money and compliance with departmental spend controls.
  • Run all conference logistics and operations, covering delegate registration and invitations, hybrid and in-person delivery, accessibility and inclusion, the on-the-day operating model and roles, and the event risk and contingency plan.
  • Support sponsorship and partnership activity for the conference, helping to develop sponsorship packages and maintain effective relationships with sponsors and stakeholders whilst ensuring appropriate propriety and governance standards are met.
  • Lead conference communications and brand, working with the communications team on the promotional campaign, delegate comms and collateral, ensuring everything is brand-compliant and carries one consistent profession message.
  • Evaluate and report on impact, gathering delegate feedback, measuring against agreed success criteria, running the post-event debrief, and feeding lessons learned and follow-up actions into the next cycle.
  • Support the planning and delivery of other Government Cyber Profession, Partnering and stakeholder engagement events and activities as required.

SKILLS/EXPERIENCE OF THE PROFESSIONAL EVENTS LEAD

  • Experience of devising and implementing conferences and events, covering audience development, speaker management, invitations, delegate engagement, logistics and post-event evaluation.
  • Experience in events management, programme management or operational delivery, with a proven track record of delivering complex, high-profile events to tight deadlines within a large organisation.
  • Experience of managing multiple stakeholders, including senior leaders, speakers, suppliers, external partners and delivery teams, balancing competing priorities to achieve successful outcomes.
  • Experience of working with external suppliers, venues or event delivery partners to deliver high-quality events and stakeholder engagement activities.
  • Experience of communications planning, delivery and evaluation, using audience insight to shape activity and measure impact.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to develop clear, engaging and accessible communications, briefings and event materials for a range of audiences.
  • Proven ability to provide events and engagement advice to teams and stakeholders, identifying opportunities for improvement and helping ensure successful delivery.
  • Strong organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple workstreams simultaneously and maintain attention to detail in a fast-paced environment.
