Spinwell is recruiting for an Environmental Health Officer for an excellent opportunity within the public sector.
Contract Length: Until 20/05/2027
Location: Hackney with flexible/field working (Role may require evening, weekend, and out-of-hours work)
IR35: Inside
Pay Rate to Intermediary: £53.90 per hour
RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE ENVIRONMENTAL HEALTH OFFICER
- Conduct inspections of commercial premises and enforce environmental health legislation
- Investigate complaints, incidents, and complex cases
- Prepare reports, case files, and prosecution documentation
- Lead targeted operations and projects across areas such as:
- Health & Safety
- Food standards
- Infectious disease control
- Licensing enforcement
- Build strong partnerships with businesses and stakeholders to drive compliance
- Provide expert advice to businesses and the public
- Manage complex investigations through to resolution or prosecution
- Support, coach, and guide junior officers (PO3/PO4 levels)
SKILLS/EXPERIENCE OF THE ENVIRONMENTAL HEALTH OFFICER
- Qualified Environmental Health professional with strong technical knowledge and enforcement experience
- Hold an appropriate Environmental Health Registration Board approved academic qualification (e.g., MSc, BSc (Hons) or Diploma in Environmental Health awarded by EHRB or REHIS)
- Registered with EHORB or have passed CIEH Assessment of Professional Competence (including deemed compliance via grandfather rights), or Assessment of Professional Development, or EHP Portfolio and Professional Discussion to be recognised as a minimum 'Registered Environmental Health Practitioner'
- Evidence of continuing professional development
