Spinwell is recruiting for a Lifeguard for an excellent opportunity within the public sector.
RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE LIFEGUARD
- When on pool duty the Civilian Swimming Pool Attendant, in their capacity of duty lifeguard, is responsible for supervising the pool, identifying, preventing and reporting any potential dangers and dealing with any incidents that occur.
- They must fully be conversant with and sign annually the Swimming Pool Emergency Action Plan (EAP) and Normal Operating Procedures (NOP’s).
- Supervision of the Swimming Pool and other areas within the facility. When the pool facility is open and should the facility uplift to two civilian pool attendants, they must always remain in the building ensuring that the whereabouts of the other lifeguard is known.
- To sign out and return the building keys from Arthur Harrison VC building, ensuring that a thorough lock up routine is conducted at the end of each day.
- Cleaning duties as directed by the Swimming Pool Manager.
- To ensure the safety and good conduct of Swimming Pool Users.
- To patrol the poolside, changing and ancillary areas as directed by the Swimming Pool Manager.
- To report immediately to the Swimming Pool Manager any defects, safety hazards or deficiencies likely to render any equipment/area unsafe.
- To effect prompt Rescue/Resuscitation First Aid by applying Royal Lifeguard Saving Society UK taught standard emergency procedures.
- To ensure the correct setting up and taking down of equipment to maximise efficiency of the activities programme.
- Keep up to date with current Health and Safety regulations implementing them as necessary. To attend sessions with H&S officers where applicable.
- To maintain high standards of facility presentation, customer care, cleanliness and hygiene.
- To ensure that all complaints and enquiries are dealt with or directed to the CPOPT and Swimming Pool Manager.
- To attend regular Staff Training sessions (as required) and MUST remain in date NPLQ – mandated NPLQ continuation training and annual competency requirement MUST be always in check.
- The use of mobile phones is not permitted on poolside during swims. Mobile phones are to be locked away during shifts. In the event of the poolside phone becoming unserviceable, local arrangements can be endorsed by the CPOPT only.
- Ensure that children and under 16’s are always supervised/escorted by an adult/parent or guardian.
- Experienced Pool Lifeguard with National Pool Lifeguard Qualification
