Pay Rate to Intermediary: £500 per day

Spinwell is recruiting for an AWS Cloud Engineer for an excellent opportunity within the public sector.

RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE AWS CLOUD ENGINEER

  • Overall responsibility for the design, delivery and optimisation of self-service cloud infrastructure and tooling to ensure that our cloud applications and services are secure, high performing and sustainable, and the delivery of a high quality user experience for software engineers, suppliers and other users needing access to cloud infrastructure.
  • Responsible for continued development and maintenance of our multi-cloud platform (AWS and Google), recognised as a robust and mature cloud platform within the public sector, as well as automating processes to improve efficiency.
  • Work with other senior members of the team responsible for enterprise architecture to set and evolve cloud engineering target architecture and provide oversight and assurance that the current architecture is implemented as per Hackney's development, security and cloud standards.
  • Lead on the delivery, implementation and support of others to ensure that the Council’s values and practices always meet our objectives for security, financial prudence and transparency, inclusion and sustainability.
  • Actively support the work of a range of multidisciplinary teams, providing strategic advice and guidance so that teams benefit from your core skills; promote the generous sharing of expertise and create opportunities for continuous learning and development.
  • Actively participate in development and enforcement of policies and procedures that would underpin a robust and effective cloud platform. This would involve participation in various governance groups such as Technical Design Authority and Cyber Security governance groups.
  • Drive the growth of the Cloud Engineering team through proactive line management.

SKILLS/EXPERIENCE OF THE AWS CLOUD ENGINEER

  • Ideally educated to bachelor degree level.
  • AWS Solutions Architect certification, or can demonstrate experience at a similar level.
  • Google Professional Cloud Architect certification, or can demonstrate experience at a similar level.
  • Has defined authority and accountability for actions and decisions within a significant area of work, including technical, financial and quality aspects.
  • Is fully responsible for meeting allocated technical and/or group objectives.
  • Analyses, designs, plans, executes and evaluates work to time, cost and quality targets.
  • Establishes milestones and has a significant role in the assignment of tasks and/or responsibilities.
  • Has developed business knowledge of the activities and practices of own organisation and those of suppliers, partners, competitors and clients.
  • Develops a wider breadth of knowledge across the industry or business.
  • Applies knowledge to help to define the standards which others will apply.
