Role: Health and Safety Advisor

Contract Length: Until 31/07/26

Location: Hybrid/Exeter – Candidate can work in the office or from home however needed as long as inspection deadlines are met. There will inevitably be days when unplanned visitors to locations are required. The applicant will be required to visit other sites across Devon, but mainly in the Exeter area.

IR35: Inside Pay Rate to Intermediary: £23.64 per hour

Spinwell is recruiting for a Health and Safety Advisor for an excellent opportunity within the public sector.

RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE HEALTH AND SAFETY ADVISOR

  • To provide health, safety and fire information, advice and support to management at all levels within respective Function/Department in order to ensure compliance with relevant legislation and policy.
  • Potentially may need to climb a step ladder to inspect a roof space, or to enter a basement or plant room.
  • Standard PPE for construction sites will be provided.

SKILLS/EXPERIENCE OF THE HEALTH AND SAFETY ADVISOR

  • NEBOSH General Certificate in Health & Safety or equivalent.
  • Evidence of at least 3 years’ experience working in H&S, preferably in a range of challenging workplace environments.
  • Must hold UK drivers’ licence unless prevented by reason of disability. Reasonable adjustments will be considered.
  • Good knowledge of health and safety law.
  • Clear understanding of the role of Health and Safety in contributing to the achievement of the organisation’s goals and objectives.
  • Good interpersonal, negotiation and communication skills and the ability to deal with matters sensitively and tactfully.
  • The ability to satisfactorily consult at all levels.
  • Effective decision making and problem-solving skills with the ability to work under own initiative.
  • High degree of computer literacy.
