Overview

Role: DevOps Infrastructure Engineer.

Contract Length: 6 months.

Location: Hybrid/Manchester - 3 days onsite if based in Manchester; 1 day onsite a week if based outside.

IR35: Inside.

Pay Rate to Intermediary: £750 per day.

Security Clearance: DV requested.

Spinwell is recruiting for a DevOps Infrastructure Engineer for an excellent opportunity within the public sector.

Responsibilities

  • Lead on setting up AWS infrastructure, including best practice for code, repositories, pipelines, etc.
  • Work closely with the junior infrastructure engineer — coaching, upskilling, and providing templates or example code.
  • Possibly support with high side on prem infrastructure, depending on whether it becomes operational again.
  • Collaborate with some data engineers so knowledge isn’t isolated to one team member.

Skills / Experience

  • AWS expertise – The role’s biggest priority is building out the AWS low-side environment.
  • Terraform – Essential for infrastructure as code.
  • Ansible – Required and used alongside Terraform.
  • DevOps experience – Strong hands on DevOps capability is crucial (GitLab experience is a bonus).
  • Kubernetes – Preferable (used on the high-side on prem environment), but not essential.
  • Strong coding skills – The person must be hands on, writing infrastructure code themselves.
