Spinwell is recruiting for a Crime Investigator for an excellent opportunity within the public sector.

RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE CRIME INVESTIGATOR

  • Using excellent communication skills to reassure a victim or witness and secure a witness statement while implementing safety measures to prevent harm.
  • The collection or submission of items for forensic examination that may contain evidence to secure a conviction.
  • The securing and viewing of CCTV footage that may hold the key to charging a suspect.
  • Supporting the creation of files for court, ensuring attention to detail and knowledge of the case to lead to successful prosecution.
  • As PIP 1/2 Investigators, supporting the team responsible for investigations and pursuing lines of enquiry to prove/disprove allegations and keep victims safe.

SKILLS/EXPERIENCE OF THE CRIME INVESTIGATOR

  • Ability to deal with challenging situations involving vulnerable adults.
  • Confidence in difficult and unexpected situations, being a team player with proven initiative and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, comfortable sharing both positive and difficult news.
  • Ability to plan, organise, and complete tasks within tight deadlines.
  • Commitment to treating people fairly, honestly, and with integrity.
  • Using initiative to investigate crimes, responsible for planning action and making decisions on allocated tasks.
  • Ability to work under pressure, solve problems, and prioritise workload.
  • Emotional resilience when dealing with vulnerable people and difficult situations.
  • Passion for delivering excellent service to the public.
  • Attention to detail and proficient IT skills.
  • Experience of criminal justice procedures, criminal investigations, and Professionalising Investigations Programme (PIP1) accreditation would be advantageous but are not required.
