Spinwell is recruiting for an Operations Manager for an excellent opportunity within the public sector.
RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE OPERATIONS MANAGER
- Support the development and implementation of the operational strategy for the project.
- Assist in ensuring alignment with Defence Lines of Development (DLODs) to meet operational requirements.
- Contribute to the preparation of the SOC, OBCs, FBCs, focusing on operational aspects.
- Support the development and refinement of User Requirements Documents (URDs) to reflect operational needs.
- Assist in translating operational requirements into technical specifications and deliverables.
- Coordinate with stakeholders, including Front-Line Commands (FLCs), to ensure operational needs are met.
- Support the planning and execution of operational trials, testing, and evaluation activities.
- Monitor and report on the progress of operational deliverables and milestones.
- Assist in identifying and managing operational risks and developing mitigation strategies.
- Contribute to the development of training plans for operational personnel.
- Support the development of transition plans for the capability into service.
- Assist in ensuring compliance with policies, including JSPs and the Defence Acquisition Framework (DAF).
- Help ensure the capability meets safety, environmental, and security standards for operational use.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of operational requirements and deliverables.
- Support the development of Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to measure operational effectiveness.
- Assist in stakeholder engagement activities, including organising meetings and workshops.
- Provide input into the procurement strategy to ensure operational requirements are addressed.
- Support the integration of the capability into the wider defence environment, ensuring interoperability.
- Contribute to the capture and documentation of lessons learned during the acquisition phase.
- Provide administrative and logistical support for operational planning and decision-making activities.
SKILLS/EXPERIENCE OF THE OPERATIONS MANAGER
- The role requires a strong understanding of operational planning and the ability to manage multiple workstreams simultaneously while maintaining programme delivery objectives.
- Suitable candidates will have experience leading and coordinating complex operations, ideally within a defence, military, maritime, or similarly regulated environment.
- The successful candidate must be capable of working independently, exercising sound judgement, and managing priorities with minimal supervision.
- During periods of reduced activity, the postholder may be required to provide support across other operational management functions and programmes.
