Are you an engineer with a passion for innovation and sustainability? Looking to move beyond purely technical work and develop a career that combines engineering, commercial exposure, and customer engagement?
This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a degree in Naval Architecture, Marine Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a similar discipline who wants to develop a career at the intersection of engineering and sales.
The Role
This is a varied and highly visible position that will see you working closely with customers, naval architects, shipowners, operators, and internal engineering teams.
Rather than cold-calling or traditional business development, you’ll focus on managing and progressing existing opportunities, supporting technical discussions, developing business cases, and helping customers understand the commercial and environmental benefits of the technology.
You’ll take ownership of opportunities throughout the sales pipeline, becoming a trusted technical advisor while helping move projects from initial enquiry through to implementation.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and develop opportunities within the existing sales pipeline
- Support customers through technical evaluations and feasibility studies
- Analyse vessel data, operating profiles, and routes to assess potential performance improvements
- Prepare technical proposals, presentations, and business cases
- Demonstrate projected fuel savings, emissions reductions, and return-on-investment calculations
- Work closely with engineering teams to develop tailored technical solutions
- Maintain and develop CRM records, opportunity tracking, and pipeline reporting
- Attend international maritime exhibitions, conferences, and client meetings
- Deliver technical presentations and product demonstrations to customers and stakeholders
- Support installation planning, vessel integration discussions, and operational testing activities
- Act as a key technical point of contact throughout the customer journey
- Monitor industry developments, decarbonisation initiatives, and emerging technologies
What We’re Looking For
- Degree in Naval Architecture, Marine Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related discipline
- Approximately 2-5 years’ experience within an engineering, maritime, or technical environment
- Strong technical understanding and the ability to communicate complex concepts clearly
- Interest in developing a customer-facing and commercial career
- Confident presenting technical information to a variety of audiences
- Strong organisational skills and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
- Self-motivated, proactive, and comfortable taking ownership of tasks
- Willingness to travel internationally when required
Desirable Experience
- Maritime, shipping, offshore, renewable energy, or marine technology experience
- Knowledge of vessel propulsion systems or energy efficiency technologies
- Experience using technical modelling or performance analysis tools
- Understanding of maritime decarbonisation and sustainability initiatives
- Exposure to technical sales, applications engineering, or customer-facing engineering roles
