An exciting opportunity for an analytically minded engineer to join a specialist technical investigations team, working on complex machinery and system failures across the marine and offshore industries.

The Role

  • Conduct technical investigations into machinery failures using numerical and analytical methods.
  • Carry out vibration, stress and fatigue analysis (FEA/BEA).
  • Produce clear, high-quality technical reports and review colleagues’ work.
  • Support on-site measurements, data acquisition and occasional overseas travel.
  • Present findings to clients and advise on solutions.
  • Prepare proposals, define scopes of work and estimate project time/costs.
  • Share knowledge, mentor junior engineers and support continuous improvement.

About You

  • Degree in Engineering, Marine Engineering, Physical Sciences or similar.
  • Experience with rotating machinery, vibration diagnostics and numerical analysis.
  • Marine sector experience and knowledge.
  • Academic, forward thinking problem solver, with excellent analysis experience.
  • Knowledge of tools such as ANSYS, ABAQUS, NASTRAN, MARC, FEMAP, etc.
  • Familiarity with MATLAB/Python/LabView helpful.
  • Good understanding of marine propulsion systems and shaft dynamics.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with excellent report writing.
  • Eligible to work in the UK and able to obtain security clearance.
