An opportunity to join a globally established maritime technology business that is building a new strategic analytics and operational insight capability on top of a widely used software platform supporting shipping companies worldwide. The business works closely with operational shipping environments and is now investing heavily in how operational data can be better utilised through analytics, AI-enabled workflows, and commercially focused operational insight.
This is not a traditional reporting or BI position. The role is significantly more strategic and commercially focused, sitting at the intersection of maritime operations, operational analytics, customer engagement, and technology. The successful individual will work directly with shipping companies to identify operational inefficiencies, shape analytics-led projects, and help turn complex operational data into measurable business outcomes. This is viewed as a key strategic hire within a newly created capability area, offering significant long-term growth potential and visibility across the wider business.
Key Responsibilities- Work directly with shipping companies to understand operational challenges and identify opportunities for improvement through data and analytics.
- Analyse maritime operational datasets across areas such as fleet operations, vessel performance, voyage efficiency, operational costs, and wider operational workflows.
- Translate complex operational data into commercially valuable insight and strategic recommendations.
- Lead customer-facing discovery conversations, workshops, and operational insight discussions with both technical and senior stakeholders.
- Help shape scalable analytics services and operational insight offerings internally.
- Collaborate closely with Product, Engineering, Commercial, and Customer teams.
- Support AI-enabled analytics workflows and operational insight generation.
- Identify recurring customer challenges that could evolve into repeatable services or future product capabilities.
- Background within maritime operations, maritime technology, vessel performance, fleet analytics, operational shipping, or maritime data environments.
- Strong analytical mindset with exposure to SQL, Python, BI tooling, operational analytics, or data-driven decision making.
- Comfortable working with complex, imperfect operational datasets and translating findings into actionable business insight.
- Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills, with the ability to work directly with customers and senior operational stakeholders.
- Commercially minded with the ability to identify value creation opportunities rather than simply produce reporting.
- Experience bridging operational, technical, and commercial teams would be highly advantageous.
- Exposure to AI-enabled workflows, operational analytics, or data product environments would be beneficial.
- Experience helping shape new processes, services, or operational capabilities is highly desirable.
