Qualified Claims Manager

An international P&I Club is seeking a UK qualified solicitor with strong FD&D experience to join their London-based team. This is a specialist role offering high-quality work and excellent exposure to a broad range of global clients.

The Role

This is a pure FD&D position, supporting Members, including owners, charterers, and traders across Europe, Asia, and South America. The role involves:

• Advising on a wide variety of charterparty disputes, hull damage, charterers’ liability, bills of lading claims, and other FD&D matters.
• Experience with offshore contracts (e.g., Supplytime, knock-for-knock regimes) and familiarity with NYP, Gencon, and sale contracts would be advantageous.
• Managing claims from inception to resolution, including strategic appointment and oversight of external legal counsel.
• Taking a commercial, pragmatic approach to resolving disputes, including identifying cost-effective alternatives to litigation or arbitration.

About You

• UK-qualified solicitor, ideally 1–4 years PQE, although more experienced candidates will also be considered.
• Previous experience within a P&I Club is preferred, though candidates from private practice with relevant shipping litigation experience are welcome.
• Practical mindset with strong communication and client-handling skills.
• Collaborative attitude—this is a close-knit and team-oriented environment with a flat structure.
• Career progression is available, though the Club values individuals motivated by long-term, stable work over rapid promotion.
