Our client is a well-established international shipowner and operator with a global PCTC fleet. They're hiring a Vessel Operator to join their London commercial team.

This suits someone who's spent time at sea and wants to move ashore into a commercial operations role. You'll manage vessel operations across spot and time charter voyages, working closely with Commercial, Superintendents, Brokers, Agents and Masters to keep car carrier voyages running to schedule.

Candidates must hold eligible right to work for the UK without the need for sponsorship and must be based in the UK at present.

Responsibilities:

  • Monitor vessel movements and keep operational systems up to date
  • Review vessel-related communications and act on them promptly
  • Manage voyage documentation and correspondence through the full charter lifecycle
  • Coordinate with Superintendents, Commercial, Brokers, Agents, Vendors and Masters
  • Appoint agents, arrange remittances, and oversee service providers
  • Maintain vessel certificates and related operational records
  • Initiate freight, demurrage and claims billing
  • Spot voyages: support pre-fixture planning, arrange voyage and discharge orders, stowage and bunkering plans, and manage post-fixture documentation and demurrage claims.
  • Time charter voyages: handle pre-charter queries and documentation, oversee execution and owner's agent appointments, and ensure delivery and redelivery notices are completed on time.

What we are looking for:

  • A diploma or higher in a relevant field
  • 1-2 years' professional experience in maritime operations
  • Sea-going experience is a strong advantage
  • Confident with Word, Excel, Outlook and Teams
  • Fluent written and spoken English
  • A calm head under pressure and comfortable with tight deadlines
  • A team player who takes the initiative
