Business Development Manager – London Ship Management Company
Our client, a distinguished member of a larger corporate group, is looking to hire a dynamic and results-oriented Business Development Manager to join their team in London.
The company manages a sizable fleet, providing comprehensive third-party ship management services including full technical management, HSEQ, vessel accounting, and procurement. With a strong tradition of delivering high-quality, professional services to the global maritime industry, the company is known for its commitment to providing unique and globally leading technical management solutions that balance budgets, quality, safety, and environmental considerations to achieve outstanding results.
This is an exciting opportunity for a driven Business Development Manager to play a key role in the growth of the company by acquiring new clients and expanding existing relationships. The successful candidate will be responsible for identifying and pursuing new business opportunities, building strong client relationships, and contributing to the overall strategic direction of the company.
New Business Acquisition: Proactively identify and pursue potential new clients within the maritime industry, develop compelling proposals, and successfully close deals.
Cultivate and maintain strong, long-term relationships with existing clients, ensuring their satisfaction and identifying opportunities for additional business.
Market Research and Analysis: Stay abreast of industry trends, competitor activities, and emerging market opportunities to inform business development strategies.
Contract Negotiation and Management: Skillfully negotiate and manage contracts to ensure business sustenance and growth.
Collaboration: Work closely with internal departments, including technical, operations, and finance teams, to support business development initiatives and ensure seamless client onboarding.
Track key performance indicators, generate insightful reports on business development activities, and provide accurate revenue forecasts.
Marketing and Negotiation Skills : Proven ability to develop annual budgets and business cases, effectively present and sell the company\’s services, and skillfully negotiate contracts. Experience in commercial lead follow-ups is essential.
Comprehensive understanding of the shipping industry, including various vessel types, relevant regulations, and prevailing market trends. Ability to gather and analyze market data to identify potential leads and new opportunities.
Demonstrated ability to develop and implement effective business development strategies aligned with the company\’s overall objectives.
Relationship Building: Proven track record of building and maintaining strong, long-term relationships with clients.
Excellent ability to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously, ensuring efficient workflow and timely completion. Ideally 3-5 years of demonstrable experience in ship management with a proven track record of success in business development.
A degree in Maritime studies or a related field, coupled with a strong understanding of ship management and the shipping industry.
Additional qualifications in Business Management or Business Development would be considered advantageous.
