You will support a broad range of projects spanning offshore wind, oil & gas, marine logistics, customs, freight forwarding, equipment supply, crew operations, terminal handling, and the groups expanding integrated energy- projects offering, helping to deliver complex operational solutions for clients in the UK and internationally.

The Role

Embedded within the company’s management team, and supported by the parent group’s legal function, you will advise across a broad range of commercial and operational matters, including:

  • Negotiating, reviewing and drafting commercial contracts, including customer and supplier terms, framework agreements, and service schedules
  • Build and maintain standard contract suite for service lines including liability structures, insurance requirements.
  • Managing contractual liability and commercial risk.
  • Disputes and claims.
  • Customs and regulatory matters.
  • Procurement and logistics contracts, subcontractor and partnership agreements including MOU to contract conversions
  • Acquisitions and corporate projects.
  • Property and lease matters.
  • Providing day-to-day legal support to an international operational business.

This is a highly visible role.

You’ll work closely with the MD and senior management, helping the business win and deliver increasingly sophisticated projects while managing commercial risk.

About You

You are

  • A qualified solicitor with 6+ years’ PQE.
  • Experienced in commercial contracts.
  • Commercially minded and pragmatic.
  • Confident dealing directly with senior stakeholders.
  • Someone who sees their role as a solutions provider rather than a problem finder.
  • Comfortable making decisions rather than simply identifying legal issues.
  • Demonstrating experience in negotiating liability, indemnity and insurance positions in service contracts.
  • Comfortable operating solo in fast paced commercial environments.

Experience gained in-house or in private practice will both be considered.

Previous experience in shipping, offshore energy, logistics, or other operational businesses would be advantageous but is not essential.

The Opportunity

This is an opportunity to become the trusted legal adviser to an established but ambitious business operating at the forefront of its market.

You’ll enjoy a broad and varied workload, genuine commercial involvement and the backing of one of the strongest in-house legal teams in the maritime sector.
