Engineering Manager – Luton – up to £90K We are partnered with a leading payer in the aviation information and intelligence industry. Their cloud-delivered, API-connected systems complement the technological needs of any customer, driving growth and innovation in the global travel industry. They\’re now looking for an Engineering Manager to join and lead a cross-functional development team from the front. We\’re seeking an EM with a strong background in Software Development, ideally working with backend technologies like Java/.Net/Python etc. What You\’ll Be Doing: Leading and developing a team of engineers (UI, Backend, QA, and Data) through 1:1s, feedback, coaching, and career progression. Being the main interface between your team and internal/external stakeholders. Running Agile ceremonies and driving continuous delivery practices. Driving architectural decisions at the system level, without being a full-time coder. Getting hands-on when needed: reviewing code, validating solutions, exploring tech spikes. Contributing to a strong engineering culture: CI/CD, documentation, testing, code quality, and collaboration.Requirements: You should have a solid mix of technical background and leadership experience, ideally covering at least 3 of the following 4 areas: People Management – 1:1s, coaching, team development, hiring Agile Delivery – Scrum/Kanban, cross-functional collaboration, sprint planning Architecture – Making scalable system-level decisions Code Contribution – Able to contribute to or review code when neededEssential skills & experience: Prior experience as an Engineering Manager, Team Lead, or Tech Lead in a software environment. Strong background in hands-on software engineering (.NET, Java, or similar). Comfortable working with modern cloud (Azure or AWS), SQL data platforms (e.g., Snowflake, MS SQL). Familiar with automation-first QA environments and CI/CD best practices.
