Our Mission

Money sitting idle is money lost. We're fixing that.

Founded in 2023 by Antoine and Paul-Adrien, Spiko gives businesses, non‑profits, financial advisers, and fintechs access to institutional‑grade cash management, via app or API.

We are building the full infrastructure: issuing, operating, and distributing the products ourselves.

Two years after launch, we serve thousands of organizations across Europe and process hundreds of millions of euros in flows every month.

Netherlands is one of our priority markets for the next phase of growth.

Our ambition: become the world's leading treasury management infrastructure in a market worth trillions.

We are backed by Index Ventures, the CEO of Revolut, the founder of Kyriba, and the CTO of Wise.

Spiko runs on excellence, transparency, and straight talk.

Head of Engineering

Spiko's engineering team is 8 top-tier engineers today.

It will triple over the coming year.

Your job is to make that scaling succeed while maintaining a very high bar on talent, velocity, and quality.

This is a hands‑on leadership role, not a strategist seat.

You'll organize the work of Spiko’s tech team, review architecture, and go deep on the hardest technical problems.

You’ll own hiring, org design, processes, and delivery.

  • Two Things Make Engineering At Spiko Different
  • We’re building an AI‑native org.

AI is central to how we design, build, test, and operate, not a tool we bolt on.

You’ll define what a 30‑person engineering team looks like when every engineer is fully leveraged by AI, and keep pushing that frontier.

  • Engineers are owning the product.

There is no thick product layer between the team and users.

We think that engineers need to talk to clients, shape the roadmap, and own product decisions end to end.

You’ll work side by side with the Product team.

You’ll need product judgment as sharp as your technical judgement.

You’ll report directly to Antoine, co‑founder, and be based in Paris or London, office first.

Key Responsibilities

  • Own engineering delivery end to end: architecture, quality, velocity, and reliability of systems processing hundreds of millions of euros monthly
  • Triple the team within a year: source, close, and onboard top‑tier engineers while keeping an uncompromising talent bar
  • In collaboration with the Product team, design the organization for that scale: team structure, ownership model, incident management, and security and compliance by design
  • Make AI a structural advantage: set the tooling, workflows, and standards that multiply every engineer’s output
  • Stay hands‑on: code, review, make architecture calls, and unblock the team on the hardest problems
  • Work directly with the founders on technical strategy, build vs. buy, and infrastructure and regulatory choices
  • Who We’re Looking For

An engineering leader who has already done this once: scaled a top‑tier team through hyper‑growth at an exceptional company, and never stopped being a builder.

You measure yourself by what ships, by the caliber of the people you hire, and by how fast the team learns.

You want to own product outcomes, not just delivery.

And you see AI as the defining shift in how software gets built, with strong opinions and receipts to match.

Requirements (must‑haves)

  • A proven track record leading a team of 20+ top‑tier engineers
  • Experience at an A+ startup or scale‑up, through a phase of rapid growth
  • AI‑first by conviction and in practice: AI shapes how you run process, delivery, and vision for an engineering org, and you can show it
  • Hands‑on for real: you still write code, review PRs, and go deep on architecture
  • A product‑oriented mindset: comfortable leading a team that owns product decisions, with strong opinions on what to build, not just how
  • Exceptional hiring ability with a demonstrated high talent bar
  • Nice To Have
  • Fintech background, or experience in another regulated, high‑stakes domain (payments, banking infrastructure, trading)
  • Experience building and operating financial infrastructure at scale (payments, ledgers, market connectivity)
  • Familiarity with the Paris and/or London engineering talent markets

What We Offer

  • Compensation: Competitive package depending on experience + Stock Options
  • Offices: in central Paris & London
  • Remote work: up to 2 days per week and one full remote week per month
  • The best tech for your job: latest‑generation laptops and industry‑leading software
  • Health insurance: 100% covered by Spiko
  • Monthly Budget to cover different perks of choice
  • Transport: 50% of public transport pass covered or the Forfait Mobilités Durables (FMD)
  • Referral Bonus

  • Our hiring process

How to prepare for a job interview at Spiko

Brush Up on Your Coding Skills

For a full-time software engineering role, it's crucial that we stay sharp with our coding abilities. Expect technical questions that might involve solving problems on the spot or discussing algorithms. Practise on platforms like LeetCode or HackerRank to get comfortable with the types of questions that often come up.

Know Your Tools and Frameworks

Make sure we’re well-acquainted with the tools and technologies listed in the job description. Familiarise ourselves with any specific frameworks or programming languages mentioned. If Spiko uses React or Node.js, for instance, be ready to discuss how we’ve used them in previous projects or coursework.

Showcase Your Projects

Bring along a portfolio that highlights our best work. This could be code samples, GitHub repositories, or any side projects we’ve built. Make sure we can talk through our thought process for each project, especially the challenges we faced and how we solved them—this shows our problem-solving skills in action.

Prepare for Behavioural Questions

While technical skills are key, full-time positions also require cultural fit. Be ready to discuss our previous experiences and how we handle teamwork, conflict, and deadlines. Brush up on the STAR method—Situation, Task, Action, Result—to clearly articulate our past experiences when discussing how we've contributed to a team.
