Spike are retail technology experts delivering end-to-end, go-live confidence for the biggest retail brands. This is an exciting opportunity to join Spike at a time when we are growing our Performance practice. We are looking for Performance Engineers to join us working as part of a team executing effective and professional technical engineering services across our growing client portfolio on different projects. You will use a wide variety of Performance Testing solutions, technologies, and tools and contribute to the achievement of business objectives by executing technical work with a level of supervision.
Key responsibilities:- Contributes to the successful completion of technical areas within projects.
- Develops and executes performance testing throughout the complete development lifecycle, from project initiation through to delivery.
- Uses agreed standards and tools from agreed specifications, collaborates in reviews of specifications with others as appropriate.
- Takes responsibility for a certain technical area and conditions, selecting appropriate technical methods and applications for project use.
- Collates and reports information, investigates to define problems more accurately and identify trends and exceptions.
- Maintains the status of project responsibilities and works across teams to achieve goals.
- Accurately identifies project risks and reports effectively to relevant stakeholders.
- Manages issues, risks, actions, dependencies, and defects to the success of the project.
- Experience of delivering performance testing throughout the software delivery lifecycle.
- Experience of analysing performance issues in at least one performance test tool and experience of application and infrastructure monitoring tools.
- Ability to write Performance test plans, test approach and test reports.
- Experience in programming languages such as C, C#, Java, Python.
- Shows genuine interest in the business and clients, with a consistent focus to satisfy customer ambitions.
- Good client-facing skills, understands customer needs and reliable to deliver exceptional service.
- Good problem solving skills, has experience in proposing solutions and challenging clients to refine the best outcomes.
- Excellent communication skills, translates know-how into plain talking and easy to understand language.
- Developing knowledge and skills of technical engineering methodologies and has a good base in performance tools and platforms required to deliver, including JMeter and NeoLoad.
- Possesses theoretical knowledge as well as basic/intermediate level of practical knowledge within technical engineering.
- Has awareness of new and emerging developments within the technology and/or retail sector.
- Personal relationships - We know each other as individuals with social meet ups at least quarterly and a Director open door policy.
- Technical consultancy - Challenging technical work with varied projects/clients and internal knowledge management forums.
- True flexibility - Remote first approach delivering as teams for clients with expenses paid if needed to travel away from home.
