Production Manager (Fitting & Test) β Spider is advertising on behalf of our client who has a strong reputation for engineering cutting-edge flow wrapping machinery for the food, medical and industrial sectors, and they are entering an exciting phase of growth. They are now seeking an experienced Production Manager (Fitting & Test) to join their manufacturing team on a full-time, permanent basis in Norwich, Norfolk.
This is a full-time, permanent position based within their production facility, offering the opportunity to lead, influence and continuously improve a critical area of the business.

About the role
As a Production Manager (Fitting & Test), you will lead and manage the assembly and test engineering teams to ensure machines are built safely, efficiently, on time and to specification. You will plan and allocate work in line with production schedules and team capabilities, monitor progress, and proactively resolve risks or delays. Working collaboratively with Production Planning, Engineering, Purchasing and Quality teams, you will ensure materials and information are available, promote right-first-time assembly, and drive continuous improvement through LEAN practices, while developing your team and maintaining a well-organised, compliant working environment. The role operates on a standard 37 hour working week.
Main duties and responsibilities
- Lead and manage the assembly and test engineering teams, including workload allocation, performance, attendance and conduct.
- Plan and allocate work in line with production schedules, priorities, and skill levels to ensure on-time delivery.
- Ensure machines are assembled safely, efficiently, within labour budgets and to specification, complying with drawings, BOMs, work instructions and quality standards.
- Monitor build progress, manage risks, shortages and NCRs, and work closely with Quality, Engineering, Production Planning and Purchasing to resolve issues.
- Promote right-first-time assembly, reduce rework and drive continuous improvement using LEAN methodologies.
- Maintain high standards of housekeeping, 5S compliance, documentation (including build books and dispatch information) and stock control.
- Support training, skills development, and apprenticeship progression, carrying out performance reviews and disciplinary processes where required.

As a Production Manager (Fitting & Test), you will have strong experience leading engineering or manufacturing teams within a machinery or assembly environment. You will bring excellent organisational skills, a proactive approach to problem-solving, and a strong focus on quality, delivery, and continuous improvement. You will be confident managing people, performance, and priorities, with the ability to work collaboratively across departments to achieve production targets. Experience with LEAN principles, quality systems, and engineering documentation is essential.
