We’re looking for an experienced DevOps Engineer to join the Spider team. You’ll work closely with our developers and wider team to support, improve, and maintain our platforms and deployment processes. We deliver digital projects for a range of established brands and organisations, across both web and mobile. The role offers exposure to varied work, practical problem-solving, and a team that values clear communication and doing things properly.
Key responsibilities
- Manage and maintain cloud infrastructure across AWS (primary), with some client environments on Rackspace Cloud and Azure
- Build, improve, and maintain CI/CD pipelines in GitLab CI – automated testing, staging deployments, environment management
- Maintain and extend Infrastructure as Code using Terraform
- Manage Docker-based development and deployment workflows, including Lando local development environments
- Administer Linux servers and Proxmox virtualisation infrastructure
- Support deployment pipelines for PHP/Drupal applications (composer builds, config sync, database updates, cache management)
- Implement and maintain monitoring, logging, and alerting across environments
- Scripting across Bash (sed/awk), Python, and Perl
- Collaborate with the development team to improve developer experience and environment parity between local, staging, and production
Salary and benefits
Spider Online offers a competitive salary, dependent on experience, alongside a strong reward package. This includes a quarterly performance-related bonus and participation in our Employee Ownership Trust (EOT), meaning employees share directly in the success of the business. Additional benefits include a generous holiday allowance (including your birthday off), company pension, and a hybrid working model with two days per week in our Glasgow office and the remainder working from home.
