Spicer Surveys has a new opportunity for an Assistant Surveyor to join their Coleshill office due to an increase in business demands. Spicer Surveys operate mainly within the education sector across the midlands. The role will be on a permanent basis. The role will primarily require assisting with the management of various schemes from inception to completion. These range from refurbishments of classrooms and boilers to extensions and new builds and will include the below duties:
- Advise clients on schemes and projects and determine requirements, formulating a brief;
- Carry out feasibility studies;
- Prepare scheme designs with costings, programmes for completion of projects and specification of works;
- Organise documents for tender and advise on appointing contractors, designers and procurement routes;
- Writing up specifications for a range of projects
- Determine the condition of existing buildings, identify and analyse defects, including proposals for repair;
- Ensure projects are completed on budget and to schedule;
- Advise on the management and supervision of maintenance of buildings;
- Deal with planning applications and advise on property legislation (DDA etc) and building regulations;
- Instruct on construction design and management regulations and advise on the health and safety aspects of buildings;
- Management of design, procurement and on-site inspections during the project lifecycle.
- Administer project contracts
- Help to produce bid submissions for future funding either through either CIF or SCA procedures.
- Retaining and developing relationships with the school\βs and associated networks
Applicants will have a sound knowledge of construction methods and processes and be able to demonstrate strong project management skills. You will have experience of managing multiple projects of varying sizes. In addition, you will have excellent client relationship skills and experience of meeting project deadlines on budget.
Candidates should possess or be in the process of obtaining a professional qualification i.e. Chartered institute of building (MCIOB) or similar.
