About the Role: I’m recruiting on behalf of a respected and growing Groundworks Contractor based in South Somerset that is looking to bring a Site Engineer on board. This is a fantastic opportunity to join a well-structured and experienced team working on a variety of residential and commercial groundwork projects across the region.
Role Overview: The successful candidate will take responsibility for engineering duties across live sites, working closely with site managers and project teams to ensure technical accuracy, efficiency, and high-quality delivery of groundwork packages.
Key Responsibilities:
- Setting out for groundworks, foundations, drainage, roads, and external works
- Interpreting technical drawings and specifications
- Ensuring works are carried out accurately and in line with project drawings and levels
- Carrying out site surveys and as-built records
- Supporting quality assurance and health & safety compliance on site
- Working collaboratively with the site and commercial teams
Requirements:
- Degree or HNC in Civil Engineering or similar field
- Previous experience in a Site Engineer role, ideally with a groundworks or civils contractor
- Proficiency with setting out equipment (e.g., Leica, Trimble, etc.)
- Strong understanding of groundworks and civil engineering processes
- Good communication skills and a proactive approach to problem-solving
- Full UK driving licence
