A leading main contractor is looking to appoint an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor on a 2-year freelance contract. Operating across complex, high-value construction projects, this is a senior-level commercial role offering excellent day rates for a commercially astute individual ready to hit the ground running.
Key Responsibilities
- Take full commercial ownership of one or more major construction projects
- Lead and mentor junior commercial staff including QS and assistant QS
- Manage subcontractor procurement, appointment and account management end-to-end
- Produce and present detailed cost reports, forecasts and CVRs to senior management
- Drive change management and variation processes, maximising commercial recovery
- Negotiate and settle final accounts with subcontractors and employers / clients
- Support bid and tender activity where required
- Maintain contractual awareness and advise the project team on commercial risk and opportunity
Requirements
- Significant experience as a Quantity Surveyor within main contracting, with strong senior-level exposure
- Demonstrable ability to manage complex projects and large subcontractor packages
- Degree qualified in Quantity Surveying or equivalent discipline
- MRICS qualified (preferred)
- In-depth knowledge of JCT, NEC or other standard forms of contract
- Strong commercial acumen with the ability to identify and protect project margin
- Confident communicator with the ability to engage at all levels including client and board
- Must be able to operate via a limited company (Ltd) – outside IR35
